How to measure your stairs for carpet fitting
When ordering a new carpet for your stairs, the process of measuring is a little more involved than it is for a normal room, however it’s easy when you know how! To get started, you’ll need a couple of things :
– Pencil and Paper
– Tape Measure
Step One - Count your individual stairs and make a list
You’ll need to know the measurements of each individual step – odds are that some will be slightly different to each other – so by listing the measurements for each step you’ll be able to add them up.
Step Two - Measure the run, rise and width of each step
Measure each step individually, and add the dimensions on to your list
Run
The part of your step that you stand on!
Rise
The vertical part of the step
Width
For winding stairs, measure the widest width per step
Step Three - Add your measurements
Add all the run and rise measurements together. also include the landing within this measurement.
You should now have the overall length x width of the stairs and landing.
Step Four - Pick your floor and enter your measurements
